How much does it cost?

Punchline Communications Inc. offers competitive and fair prices. Project prices depend on the service, deadline, project size, and other factors. We encourage you to include a project sample when requesting a quote — this will allow us to better provide an estimate.

How long does it take?

We will do our best to accommodate any deadlines you might have, and we offer rush services for time-sensitive requests.

What kind of editing service do I need?

If you are unsure what kind of editing your document needs, send us an email at contactus@punchlinecommunications.com, including a sample of your text, and we will provide you with options and our service recommendations.

What document formats do you accept?

For editing and rewriting services we prefer Microsoft Office formats, but we do accept Open Office, text files, and PDFs. For proofreading services we request documents in PDF. Please contact us, if you use a different format, and we will do our best to accommodate your request.

For indexes, what format will you provide the final version in?

We will provide the final version of your index as a Word or RTF document, at your request.

How do I compare your edits to my original document?

We use the Track Changes feature in Microsoft Word, which enables you to view any changes we are suggesting. Normally, we will not explain revisions to grammar, punctuation, or other common issues; however, we will include a detailed comment in the document, if we make other changes (such as usage, word choice, etc.) You are always welcome to contact us to discuss any suggested changes in more depth.

For PDFs we use in-document comments.

For proofreading we use standard markup.

Do you only provide services to Canadian clients?

No. Our clients are located all over the world as most of our work can be done electronically and communication with our clients can take place via Skype or other communication platforms.

I’m an author. Can you edit my manuscript?

Yes. We are very familiar with the book publishing industry and are experienced book editors. In addition, we can assist you with other aspects of the publishing process, such as press releases. You can view a full list of services we provide to authors here.

I’m a publisher. Can I sub-contract your company?

Yes. We can be sub-contracted for editing, indexing, proofreading, press releases, and more. For a full list, view our services for publishers.

What if English is not my first language?

Although we do not offer translation services, we provide editing services for documents that have already been translated to English.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept payment by cheque, through PayPal, or through email transfers through participating financial institutions.
